Ana Paula Paes de Paula; Carolina Machado Saraiva de Albuquerque; Raquel de Oliveira Barreto; Cleiton Fabiano Klechen

This articles objectives are to illustrate the tradition and autonomy of the Critical Organizational Studies (COS) and make recommendations to keep alive the critical epistemology in Brazil. A comparison was developed between Critical Management Studies (CMS) and the Brazilian COS, demonstrating epistemological differences and developing propositions. The methodology is presented, indicating examined conferences and magazines and criteria for defining critical articles and the applied thematic classification. A comparison was done between the national critical production from 1980-2008 and the production of CMS from 1999-2007. We concluded by indicating Brazilian critical authors influenced by Guerreiro Ramos and Mauricio Tragtenberg, making an evaluation of the impact of the international movements in Brazil and suggesting future research. This articles objectives are to illustrate the tradition and autonomy of the Critical Organizational Studies (COS) and make recommendations to keep alive the critical epistemology in Brazil.

This article aims to contribute to the discussion in the area of Solidary Economy. Based on the ideas of Guerreiro Ramos and Mauricio Tragtenberg, the work analyzed the difficulties found by individuals to be inserted in the cooperative logic. In order to reach its objective, a case study was made in COOPETEX, in which were analyzed aspects like the existence of the cooperative principles, the participation and the automanagement, as well as the presence of the values and characteristic practices of the capitalist model of production. It was possible to identify a devaluation of the principles which guides the cooperative movement and that automanagement exists only as a discourse. Also, it was perceived that capitalist values and methods are widely used, which makes the cooperative a reproduction of the conventional enterprises. From the obtained results, it was possible to conclude that cooperative members need to change their way of acting in order to provide legitimacy for cooperatives functioning.

ABSTRACT In this article, we started with the assumption that the constructive error, while hypothesis about a certain knowledge, is a provisional form of knowledge, which calls into question the idea that the hit occurs when there is exact correspon-dence with the response provided by the educator, which often imposes barriers to reflection and creativity. As a counterpoint, we sought to analyze how cases of failure and its different forms of application can contribute to a different forma-tive experience of students. Then we used the methodology of construction of teaching cases, that were based on empirical research with key informants from organizations investigated, supplemented by secondary data. In a second step, the cases developed were applied in different situations of teaching and learning, and with these pedagogical semi-experiments were not only evaluated the effec-tiveness of the cases of failure compared to success stories, as well as the various applications thereof. The semi-experiments pointed to the fact that the following variables can influence the results obtained using the method: how the case is written; the method of application (restrictive or not restrictive); the course in which the case is applied; previous contact or knowledge of the main theoretical concepts about the topic; and knowledge of practices and methods of case studies. Thus, it was concluded that the use of case method in Management education is more complex than is generally considered, especially if the intention is really to encourage critical thinking. For further research we recommend performing further experiments with methods of application described a case study in order to further explore the results obtained with nor restrictive method, particularly as regards the insertion of liberator and constructive error as way to the critical pedagogy in Management education.

“SER GARÇOM NÃO É SOMENTE CARREGAR BANDEJA...”:ESTRATÉGIAS DISCURSIVO-IDENTITÁRIAS DE GARÇONS

Ana Paula Rodrigues Diniz; Mariana Mayumi Pereira de Souza; Alexandre de Pádua Carrieri; Raquel de Oliveira Barreto

This article aimed to apprehend waiters’s discursive-identity strategies in order to build or maintain a positive professional identity. For this, we carried out a qualitative research study in which 12 subjects were interviewed. For the analysis of data it was adopted Discourse Analysis, as a methodology, and as an epistemological perspective. The results reveal three discursive-identity strategies: a professional valuation of the definition of their specific attributes, and the differentiation between waiters ‘tray’s loaders’, and the importance of the profession for a personal life, business as well as the city itself. It is argued that such strategies seek to minimize the conflict of identity experienced by these subjects due to lack of social recognition, but, at the same time, those strategies confront and reinforce the discourse of devaluation of manual labor.
