--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Social Education, regarding its dimension as a mediator, can facilitate educational processes at schools, as well as the coordination among them and the local communities where they are located. From this conviction, we analise the role of education institutions and local authorities as driving forces of a territorial education project. Together with other professionals and community agents, educationalists and social educators are set to play an active role on that project.

Se trabajo con un N=1267 en el 2009 y un N=2037 en 2015 con hijos en edad escolar organicen sus tiempos; ademas de constatarse un incremento de la desigualdad en relacion a la gestion de los tiempos cotidianos, con una clara polarizacion respecto a la conciliacion en las siete ciudades gallegas analizadas EnglishReconciliation is the possibility of harmonising work, personal, family and community life; to this effect, it is essential to promote social, economic and time policies, as well as strategies that can enable the right of presence and the balance among the mentioned spheres. This approach compels to rethink the issue of co-responsibility, since it cannot be considered as a mere review of gender roles and as a balanced distribution of family tasks and household chores. We must achieve a social pact involving work, school and family life in order to respect childhood rights and family welfare. In the studied period (2009-2015), concurrent with the financial crisis and the loss of purchasing power, families with school-age children find more difficult to manage their times; besides, an increase of inequalities regarding the distribution of daily times is observed, with a clear polarization referred to reconciliation in the seven analyzed cities in Galicia. We have worked with N=1267 in 2009 and N=2037 in 2015.

The article aims to analyze how to reconcile the time Galician families spent with children enrolled in primary school. The results indicate that conciliation measures in the workplace are insufficient for the co-responsibility. Within the community framework, family support and the programs offered by the school constitute fundamental elements for the harmonization of the multiple activities and obligations to which families must respond. The need to promote a change to introduce new models of social organisation that make it possible to harmonise all planes of life is referred to, guaranteeing the compatibility of family time.

SEPA is a research team from the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Spain supervised by Professor Jose Antonio Caride and has spent the last 10 years working on questions related to the time allocated to education and social issues 1. The team focuses its studies on the timetables of the school day and its influence in socialization and infant´s quality of life, leisure time, etc. Related to this research line, in 2008 the team started a biannual project for studying difficulties in the conciliation in daily life for families with children who go to primary school, contextualizing it in urban Galicia, Spain. Three subjects have a big presence in the analysis: school times, family life and children’s leisure. In this work we are presenting some of the conclusions of this study, emphasizing the importance of social educative services and family co-responsibility to guarantee the quality of life in childhood.
