The study of early childhood educators became important as this professional has been recognized as a promoter of child development. Knowing who they are, what they do and what they feel about their own work is a concern for current research in psychology of human development. Accordingly, the present study is guided by an ecological approach of the human development and therefore recognizes school as a primary context where educator and children are related to and involved in promoting processes of acquisitions and changes with each other. With this perspective, we interviewed 20 educators through a questionnaire with open and closed questions, which corresponded to the total number of professionals working in this condition in the institution. The sociodemographic profile generated revealed that participants as a whole were women, most of them over 35 years (70%), with a previous experience working with children of at least two years (90%) and attended training courses in recent years (90%). Regarding their work in daycare, the greatest difficulties were directed primarily to the relationship with parents, followed by salary and the physical environment of the school. About the tiresome aspects of their work routine, educators highlighted physical effort, 572 Nylander, P. I. A., Santos, R. C. B., Magalhães, L. S., Afonso, T., & Cavalcante, L. I. C. emotions present in the relationship with children and communicating with parents. Results emphasized the importance of understanding the work in contexts of day care center and schools from the point of view of the early childhood educators, providing evidence that could support interventions to motivate their continued professional development, the prevention of their physical and emotional exhaustion and enhance the positive impact of such measures on child development.
