Habitação saudável e ambientes favoráveis à saúde como estratégia de promoção da saúde

In this article, Healthy Housing is discussed as a potential field of knowledge and practices to be applied in the Health Promotion strategy and as an instrument in a larger discussion of problems in health and living standards. The development and consolidation of Health Promotion is presented focusing the discussion on two fields of action: healthy public policies and the establishment of healthy environments. The concepts of habitability and ambience are presented as a path conducive to reflection and the development of closer ties between Health Promotion and Healthy Housing.

Avaliacão da implantação do programa de desenvolvimento integrado em Manguinhos: impasses na formulação de uma agenda local

O artigo discute a implantacao do programa de Desenvolvimento Integrado e Sustentavel em Manguinhos, iniciado atraves da constituicao de parcerias entre poder publico, iniciativa privada e organizacoes sociais, visando as politicas e acoes intersetoriais de promocao da saude nas comunidades da regiao. A avaliacao tomou como referencia a discussao sobre a implantacao do programa e a importância do contexto, considerando as dimensoes da mobilizacao dos atores, da constituicao de um espaco de interlocucao e de acao coletiva entre as liderancas locais, objetivando uma agenda comum. Foi feita uma analise da vida associativa e da dinâmica de constituicao do chamado Forum Regional, que representou um esforco de agregacao destes atores e liderancas da regiao. A analise revelou uma fragilidade nas relacoes e acoes coletivas vis-a-vis a ausencia da implementacao de acoes publicas intersetoriais. Mobilizacao, organizacao social e mudancas institucionais foram vistos como fatores cruciais para equacionar o problema da violencia e do padrao alterado de sociabilidade local, desencadeando medidas mais efetivas de promocao da saude e de melhoria na qualidade de vida em Manguinhos.

Theory and practice in the context of health promotion program evaluation

Evaluation of health promotion (HP) actions is a major challenge, generating inquiries and reflections that can contribute on the effectiveness of the actions themselves. With the aim on fostering exchange on monitoring and evaluation experiences related to the implementation of healthy settings, the 1st Brazilian Seminar on Health Promotion Effectiveness was launched in 2005. The program included round table and workshops known as Working Groups (WG) in Brazil. The criteria used to constitute the workshops focused settings as spaces of circulation and living as an intrinsic connection to lifestyles and conditions, as well as to social and/or environmental risk factors associated with groups living in these settings day after day. Focusing on evaluation as an activity that generates knowledge, this article highlights and stimulates the discussion about some major issues arising from the theoretical-methodological approach and the discussions developed in the workshops. The debates carried out during the Seminar illustrated the different perceptions and views of the social players involved in implementation and evaluation of HP practices, disclosing a multiplicity of meanings. It became clear that procedures are needed to document a future maturation of concepts and methods, in combination with further in-depth theoretical discussion.
