Drug prescription practices in Brazil: a structural equation model

Purpose – The papers aim is to analyze the functional relationships between factors related to the prescription of medical drugs in Brazil.Design/methodology/approach – A survey was conducted among 232 medical doctors in Brazil. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Five hypotheses on the factors impacting drug prescription were proposed, and the constructs were validated using a set of techniques pertaining to the calculation of structural equations.Findings – The process of medical drug prescription in Brazil is positively correlated with all the presented constructs. However, the study found that the five proposed hypotheses demonstrated varying degrees of positive effect levels, ranging from strong to weak. Particularly, factors such as the characteristics of the drug and information available on a drug have the weakest effect, while the cost‐benefit ratio of a drug has a moderate effect. Processo de inovação: estudo de caso da adoção do sistema de produção de arroz orgânico vinculada ao NEMA

The rice agribusiness in Rio Grande do Sul state is facing at least two major problems: the low price of the rice bag paid to the producer and the environmental impacts caused by the logic of productivity. These two issues are related to the discussion on the implementation of new technologies, as: the adoption organic agriculture. In this sense, evolutionary theory seeks to understand the process of technological change. Within this theoretical approach, the framework micro-meso-macro is highlighted. This one attempts to explain innovation as the result of a process involving a multilevel structure of rules, which evolves over time. In this context, the following research question is made: what are the rules of multilevel structures that are contributing to the adoption of organic production system associated with the Center for Environmental Education and Monitoring (NEMA)? The results have highlighted the importance of including “NGOs” and research firms as actors “structuring”; the “government” as the creator of “specific demands”; as well as to analyze the “natural resources” like possible “barriers” to the adoption of organic rice production system. Regarding the dynamics of the rules, the results give a first indication of the evolution of these over the adoption of new systems of production process.

O USO DA TECNOLOGIA DA INFORMAÇÃO COMO MECANISMO DE CONTROLE: ANÁLISE DE MÚLTIPLOS CASOS NO SETOR BANCÁRIO

A Tecnologia da Informacao (TI) tem sido uma das ferramentas mais utilizadas e que evoluem mais rapidamente no cenario de negocios atual. Nessa mesma linha, seguem as formas de controle utilizadas pelas empresas com os seus funcionarios. Assim, e importante distingui-las temporalmente: antigamente, utilizavam-se formas mais rusticas e explicitas para manter o controle dos empregados; ja nos dias atuais, as organizacoes buscam tornar o controle invisivel, de maneira que os mesmos o percebam o minimo possivel, com a finalidade de maximizar os lucros empresariais. Percebendo a ligacao direta entre o desenvolvimento de TI e de modernas formas de controle, sentiu-se a necessidade de estudar mais profundamente essa questao e entender melhor esse processo. O elemento utilizado para investigacao foram os bancos de Pelotas, publicos e privados, nos quais o controle e, ao mesmo tempo, visivel e invisivel aos olhos dos funcionarios. Portanto, foram feitas sete entrevistas com pessoas que trabalham em bancos, utilizando o metodo de pesquisa snowball , no qual um indicou o outro e, ao final deste trabalho, sao apresentados os resultados e a real relacao existente entre o desenvolvimento da Tecnologia da Informacao e as novas formas de controle nas empresas.

Impactos ambientais e vantagens comparativas do transporte hidroviário em relação a outros modos de transporte no sul do Brasil

The article aims to analyze the environmental impacts, the costs, the advantages and disadvantages of using the waterway transport mode relative to other modes of transport available in the south of Rio Grande do Sul region, especially in Pelotas, Rio Grande and Charquedas. The research has a qualitative approach and use the method of case study. The data collection technique was conducting interviews with various managers of Alpha Company, as well as conducting on site observation and document analysis. After analyzing the results obtained from the interviews, we drew a parallel with the theoretical background and we came to the conclusion that the waterway logistics is a viable option in reducing transport costs, because it provides reduced operating costs in order 40 % compared with road transportation. Still, the carbon dioxide emission reduction in the atmosphere is significant, because each barge carries the equivalent to loads of 140 trucks. However, it points out the need for public policies that encourage the use of the waterway mode by companies, especially in the area analyzed.

INSERÇÃO INTERNACIONAL DE UNIVERSIDADES E VALOR PERCEBIDO: UMA ANÁLISE EM TRÊS INSTITUIÇÕES DE ENSINO SUPERIOR

A internacionalizacao de universidades (IES) brasileiras tornou-se uma pratica de politicas e programas de governos, instituicoes e sistemas academicos. Esse fenomeno, por ser recente, possui poucos estudos realizados por academicos brasileiros, principalmente considerando valor percebido na internacionalizacao das IES. Nao ha certeza, ate o momento, se os estudantes atribuem valor as acoes de internacionalizacao das IES. Com isso, o objetivo deste trabalho e analisar o valor percebido pelo aluno de graduacao em relacao a insercao internacional da universidade. O presente estudo foi conduzido atraves de dois metodos: Estudo de multiplos casos com entrevistas de profundidade com coordenadores de internacionalizacao de tres universidades do Rio Grande do Sul; S urvey com 378 academicos do curso de administracao das mesmas universidades. A analise fatorial exploratoria do survey permitiu discriminar os fatores e confirmar, na pratica, seis categorias de valor percebido, sendo elas: interacao social, ganhos academicos, ganhos educacionais, qualidade, reputacao e beneficios. Observou-se que ha um nivel de valor percebido por parte dos alunos quanto as atividades de internacionalizacao, corroborando com as evidencias destacadas na base teorica. Os dados demonstram ainda que os servicos ofertados por meio das acoes de internacionalizacao agregam valor a oferta universitaria, favorecendo esse tipo de atividade pelas IES.
