Zwischen Projektion und Dekonstruktion Mediterranismus oder Vom Nutzen und Nachteil einer Denkfigur zur Erforschung des ›südlichen Blicks‹

Abstract As a reaction to the postcolonial invention of the Mediterranean in the Anglo-American anthropology of the 1960’s and 1970’s and following Edward Said’s ›Orientalism‹, ›Mediterraneanism‹ serves as a concept for exploring the ›southern perspective‹ of scientists from the North. While initially, in the present article, the term was intended to be used in order to capture the intercultural perspective of literature on the South, this was precluded by epistemological and practical reasons. The article discusses these issues by critically examining the background and foundations of the notion in question, by comparing its different conceptualisations depending on the discipline and provenance of their authors, and by analysing the possibilities of its application in Intercultural Studies.

Interkulturalität als Projekt

Die nachfolgenden Ausführungen unternehmen den Versuch einer Fortschreibung. Sie greifen Gedanken zur Interkulturalitätsforschung auf, die einerseits aus dem Sonderforschungsbereich Literatur und Anthropologie Ende der 1990erJahre an der Universität Konstanz hervorgegangen und andererseits im Rahmen dieser Zeitschrift kürzlich als Vor-Überlegungen zur Interkulturalität veröffentlicht worden sind (vgl. Rieger/Schahadat/Weinberg 1999 sowie Heimböckel 2013a). Für die konkreten Literaturbeispiele bildet das aktuelle Themenheft Übersetzen. Praktiken kulturellen Transfers am Beispiel Prags den thematischen Bezugsrahmen. Dabei versteht sich die Fortschreibung selbst als Teil des Projektes, um das es in dem vorliegenden Beitrag hauptsächlich geht.

Die deutsch-französischen Beziehungen aus interkultureller Perspektive.

The abundance of different research approaches in the cultural field of Franco-German relations is remarkable. There has been a substantial output of theories and proposed theories in the last twenty years in particular. This article therefore pursues the question of how these theories relate to the paradigm of interculturality, how they contribute to the definition of interculturality, and what the limits and limitations of interculturality’s utility may be. The discussion focuses on a central frame of reference for the debate: the disinterest that has been repeatedly diagnosed on both sides, especially in the context of the festivities surrounding the fiftieth anniversary of the Élysée Treaty.
