Linguagem, sentido e contexto: considerações sobre comunicação e história

O artigo discute as dificuldades de se pensar a nocao de contexto historico no âmbito da pesquisa comunicacional. Dialogamos com proposicoes das teorias da linguagem que refletem sobre a linguagem, seu carater performativo e sua materializacao nos meios de comunicacao, e da teoria da historia, especialmente a tradicao que persegue continuidades e descontinuidades de uma historia cultural. Nossa discussao encaminha-se em torno de duas proposicoes basicas: 1) a maneira como o conceito de contexto, compreendido de forma automatica, impoe uma qualidade referencial ao texto historico nos estudos do fenomeno comunicativo que oculta, justamente, seus aspectos comunicacionais; 2) a compreensao de que inverter a percepcao dos meios de comunicacao como parte de um “fundo” socio historico para a de uma “figura” de uma historia cultural pode fortalecer a reflexao acerca da historicidade no campo da comunicacao. Tal movimento podera contribuir para que a ilusao do contexto seja ultrapassada por uma perspectiva heuristica no campo da pesquisa em comunicacao.

Merleau-Ponty e o jornalismo: possibilidades de um diálogo para além do visível

In this article we seek to reflect on some of Merleau-Ponty formulations, especially on the experience in dealing with the whole visible, questioning it, and revealing its invisible layers. It is proposed that some of Merleau-Pontys ideas concern about how to perceive objects, what might be a contribution to Journalism Studies. From the analysis of newspapers O Globo and Folha de S. Paulo coverage during the 19 years of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries, we have found that the Merleau-Ponty proposals can foster a fruitful dialogue on journalism.

Comunicação, estratégias e controle da dengue: a compreensão de um cenário público de experienciação

This work acknowledges the exhaustion of the causality relationship between strategic communication and dengue control and aims to understand communication within public scenarios for combating the disease. Thus, it considers the strategic aspect of communication but at the same time, does not take it as the single category - or as a central category - in the communicational dimension of the public problem of dengue. The methodology used in the article was bibliographic research. This research method guided the search for studies on communication and dengue control and the survey of the general theoretical foundations that support the proposed explicative frame. The main result shows that the communicational dimension of the public problem of dengue is constituted by strategic aspects and by unusual, unpredicted and uncontrollable aspects. These characteristics compose a public scenario of experiences that can neither be completely understood nor anticipated. In conclusion, this work proposes five relational assumptions for communication strategies in public scenarios of dengue experiences.

O contexto como acontecimento: modos de construção do texto na experiência jornalística de organizações não-governamentais

The objective of this article is to discuss the journalistic dimension of informative materials produced by non-governmental organizations devoted to taking part in the public debate about childrens rights. From the bulletin “Prioridade Absoluta”, produced by the NGO Oficina de Imagens, the analysis focus on the ways that texts produce a universe of references about the theme in question, becoming, at the same time, journalistic products and story suggestions (press releases) for the mainstream press.

Centenário de Belo Horizonte: a comunicação na construção da experiência da cidade

Belo Horizonte, founded on December 12, 1897, was a city created by decree and designed by a construction commission to be the new capital of the state. Its construction within a context of transformation, marked by the Proclamation of the Republic and the attempt to modernize the Brazilian economy and society, was linked to the feeling and the crisis of Minas identity.
