The use of e-commerce in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has become an important topic of many studies. Several studies on e-commerce adoption by SMEs in developing countries have been done. Unfortunately there are still a few studies for that in Indonesia, particularly in West Java province. In addition, only a few studies have been conducted to produce a model that can explain the success of SMEs in adopting e-commerce systems. This paper presents some preliminary study results with the aim to explore technological and organizational factors influencing e-commerce adoption by the SMEs. Three exploratory case studies in three manufacturing SMEs in West Java were conducted. The result of this study indicates several variables of technological and organizational factors that affect e-commerce adoption.

This research presents more profound insights on which knowledge infrastructure regarded crucial in supporting knowledge sharing behavior. Besides it, explaining how knowledge sharing influences towards companys innovation capability. The result of this research is expected to leverage learning ability towards the development of knowledge sharing behavior within organization. Moreover this research is also expected to provide referential framework to researchers and practitioners on the components of knowledge infrastructure needed to be developed in order to build effective knowledge sharing behavior in an organization. Our research has identified several dimensions of knowledge infrastructure which are considered supporting knowledge sharing behavior: organizational culture, managerial, organizational structure, people, and information technology. This research is based on theory reasoned action to explain how knowledge infrastructure is able to form knowledge sharing behavior.

The research investigates the relationships between knowledge sharing capability, absorptive capacity, and innovation capability. We used statistical hypotheses and Structural Equation Modeling to study these relationships based on the data sampled from 114 companies of information and communication technology industry in Indonesia including telecommunication service provider, support service provider, network vendors, and consumer devices vendors. Four hypotheses will be tested in this study, to find out whether absorptive capacity is the intervening variable between knowledge sharing capability and innovation capability. The result shows that knowledge sharing capability has a significant influence to potential absorptive capacity. While realized absorptive capacity is significantly influenced by potential absorptive capacity.

Transforming SMEs into e-business is one of efforts to improve the competitiveness of SMEs. However, the initiatives of e-business can not be separated from the companys business strategy. This means that the transformation of SMEs towards e-business follows the companys business strategy. However, SMEs often do not clearly define their business strategy, and this strategy is seen as the companys commitment to customer demand. For manufacturing companies, manufacturing systems literature calls this commitment as competitive priorities which is a part of the manufacturing strategy and reflects the business strategy. This study describes the alignment between e-business initiatives with the competitive priorities. This study uses business process approach to find e-business initiatives. Business processes that are supported electronically by SMEs become the pivot domain for the alignment process. This study shows four types of e-business initiatives that are identified from empirical studies and explains the relationship between each initiative with competitive priorities to be fulfilled by B-to-B manufacturing SMEs.

Many researches had shown IT contribution to business. Considering the contribution of SMEs to Indonesia economy, improving the competitiveness of SMEs is a concern in Indonesia development. Many studies had shown many IT projects failed to provide business performance. So, it is important to understand the pattern of e-business that provides business performances of a company. Using business process approach, we had studied SMEs’ e-business initiatives in the form of “which business processes that had been supported with IT” by SMEs and business performances that SMEs gained from these e-business initiatives. But, we have not studied the intensity of implemented IT for SMEs’ business processes. This paper presents a conceptual framework that relates the business performance and the intensity of e-business adoption. We also propose some antecedents that may relate to the intensity of e-business adoption.

Internet has been accelerating technology development in many sectors, including bank industry. Mobile banking is the latest banking channel that offers many advantages for banks and their customers. Despite the advantages it offers, many banks face the problem of low mobile banking adoption, particularly in Indonesia. Many Indonesian banks face the problem of low mobile banking adoption. A study on what makes customers fully accept mobile banking can help banks develop effective strategies to increase the adoption. This paper examines customer adoption of mobile banking from an interaction perspective. Based on this perspective, mobile banking adoption is studied by examining the interactions among elements involved in the system. Interaction among system elements may create new characteristics; therefore it is necessary to analyze these interactions to have richer understanding on the adoption behavior. Based on literature review, a framework and model for mobile banking adoption from an interaction perspective were developed. The model was developed by adopting several theories, including usability, technology adoption model, diffusion of innovations, perceived characteristics of innovating, flow theory, trust and social influence.

Nowadays the competition in IT offshoring is fierce along with the rapid growth of IT offshoring. Some of Indonesian IT vendors succeed in acquiring IT projects from clients abroad, but some of them are not successful in delivering the project. Some previous studies have included interaction capability as the determinant of IT outsourcing success, but the concept of interaction is considered as one dimension. This study will explore dimensions of interaction capability including its determinants. Based on the result of semi-structured interview with the representative of Indonesias leading offshore IT outsourcing company, the interaction between the company and client is very important for the success of software development. Our results show that communication and coordination are the main dimensions of interaction capability. The supporting determinants of interaction capability include human resources management and technology. The inhibiting determinants of interaction capability include cultural distance and temporal distance.
