The use of e-commerce in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has become an important topic of many studies. Several studies on e-commerce adoption by SMEs in developing countries have been done. Unfortunately there are still a few studies for that in Indonesia, particularly in West Java province. In addition, only a few studies have been conducted to produce a model that can explain the success of SMEs in adopting e-commerce systems. This paper presents some preliminary study results with the aim to explore technological and organizational factors influencing e-commerce adoption by the SMEs. Three exploratory case studies in three manufacturing SMEs in West Java were conducted. The result of this study indicates several variables of technological and organizational factors that affect e-commerce adoption.

Indonesia, one of developing countries, recognizes the contribution of small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs) to the growth of national economy. Today one form of SMMEs empowerments is the adoption of e-commerce. Although there are many advantages from e-commerce adoption by SMMEs, several barriers for the adoption exist. By understanding the main goal and the barriers of e-commerce adoption by SMMEs, it is expected that the empowerment of SMMEs can be implemented. This paper reports a study on goals and barriers of e-commerce adoption by Indonesian SMMEs in the non-oil-and-gas processing and the trading, hotels, and restaurants sectors by using business environment framework. This study found that most of surveyed Indonesian SMMEs have strategic plans to adopt higher level of e-commerce usage, which current majority is at low-level of usage. Further, it is found that human resources and source of information factors are the most significant barriers for e-commerce adoption by Indonesian SMMEs.

Mobile internet refers to accessing wireless internet anytime and anywhere via mobile devices. Acceptance of mobile internet by individuals is critical to the successful implementation of mobile internet systems. Based on Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and many models in previous studies about mobile internet acceptance, the purpose of this study was to identify the determinants of mobile internet acceptance among university students in Bandung. Data collected from 271 undergraduate students in three private universities in Bandung (Indonesia) was tested against the research model using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach with LISREL 8.7 software. The results show that performance expectancy, social influence, facilitating condition, and perceived flexibility were significant determinants of behavioral intention to use mobile internet. The findings of this study provide several important implications for mobile internet services practitioners and researchers in Indonesia.

The research investigates the relationships between knowledge sharing capability, absorptive capacity, and innovation capability. We used statistical hypotheses and Structural Equation Modeling to study these relationships based on the data sampled from 114 companies of information and communication technology industry in Indonesia including telecommunication service provider, support service provider, network vendors, and consumer devices vendors. Four hypotheses will be tested in this study, to find out whether absorptive capacity is the intervening variable between knowledge sharing capability and innovation capability. The result shows that knowledge sharing capability has a significant influence to potential absorptive capacity. While realized absorptive capacity is significantly influenced by potential absorptive capacity.

Manufacturing execution system is information systems (IS) application that bridges the gap between IS at the top level, namely enterprise resource planning (ERP), and IS at the lower levels, namely the automation systems. MES provides a media for optimizing the manufacturing process as a whole in a real time basis. By the use of MES in combination with the implementation of ERP and other automation systems, a manufacturing company is expected to have high competitiveness. In implementing MES, functional integration -making all the components of the manufacturing system able to work well together, is the most difficult challenge. For this, there has been an industry standard that specifies the sub-systems of a manufacturing execution systems and defines the boundaries between ERP systems, MES, and other automation systems. The standard is known as ISA-95. Although the advantages from the use of MES have been stated in some studies, not much research being done on how to implement MES effectively. The purpose of this study is to develop a methodology describing how MES implementation project should be managed, utilising the support of ISA- 95 reference model in the system development process. A proposed methodology was developed based on a general IS development methodology. The developed methodology were then revisited based on the understanding about the specific charateristics of MES implementation project found in an Indonesian steel manufacturing company implementation case. The case study highlighted the importance of applying an effective requirement elicitation method during innitial system assessment process, managing system interfaces and labor division in the design process, and performing a pilot deployment before putting the whole system into operation.

The benefits of electronic medical record (EMR) adoption by medical personnel, such as physicians, and medical organizations have been discussed in previous studies. However, most of medical personnel and organizations still use traditional paper-based medical records or use EMR ineffectively. This study aims to develop a model of EMR adoption among physicians and analyse the factors influencing the adoption. The model is developed base on Ability, Motivation, and Opportunity (AMO), adapted AMO, and Motivation-Ability FrameworkTen hypotheses were developed in this study. The next part of the study will be done to operationalize and empirically test the model using a survey method.

This research focuses on Small and Medium Enterprises manufacturing sectors. A major contribution by the manufacturing sector and the role of SMEs in the Indonesian economy prompted the government to improve SMES competitiveness. One of which is internet training. The low adoption of internet in SMEs business due to the incapability of SME in aligning business with IT. This requires the government to help SMEs in adopting e-business effectively by assisting SMEs to align their business and IT. In this paper, we propose a conceptual model that will be further elaborated. We propose five factors of alignment and 5 proposisition related to these factors. The elaborated model will serve as the basis for alignment success framework.

Offshore IT outsourcing has been very popular in the last 20 years as the companies want to concentrate more on its core business processes. According to A.T. Kearney Global Position Index for the year 2011, Indonesia ranks fifth in terms of attractiveness as an offshore IT outsourcing service provider. To enhance the competitiveness of the IT companies in Indonesia, a good understanding of the capabilities that need to be developed by the Indonesian IT vendors in supporting the success of IT outsourcing projects is needed. This study aims at evaluating the capability level of Indonesian IT vendors in supporting an offshore IT project, in different aspects of capabilities. Based on models developed in the earlier studies, an evaluation framework to measure the capability of Indonesian IT vendors was further developed, by adding one new capability which is associated with the vendors ability to adapt to market conditions. A survey method is used to collect empirical data. Until the moment this paper was submitted, data collection is still being executed. From the results of empirical research involving 8 Indonesian IT vendors which had worked on offshore projects, a descriptive analysis of different aspects of vendor capabilities is presented. From the empirical study it was found that Process capability is the capability which is considered very well managed and get the highest score among all the capabilities. Domain Knowledge and Service Delivery capabilities are capabilities that are necessary to be paid attention among the other capabilities.

Previous studies explained the adoption process of e-commerce was influenced by individual acceptance and used theories such as Theory of Acceptance Model (TAM), Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and others. Then, a new idea emerged; if a company wants to achieve a goal, common interests are needed. The idea is known as Stakeholder Theory. This study is based on Stakeholder Theory and performed on small and medium companies that are considered by Indonesian government as pillars of the nationals economy. The stakeholders that are considered to be influential in this study are the Government, Employees, Owners, Competitors, Customers and Managers. The data analysis using Partial Least Square method showed that Competitors, Owners and Employees influence the level of e-commerce adoption in small and medium enterprises.
