Objective: To investigate the perception of nurses in relation to concepts of communication to the terminal patient and the strategies adopted by them to communicate with the patient in the terminally ill. Methods: Qualitative research, conducted with seven nurses in the intensive care unit of a public health hospital in the city of Joao Pessoa, Paraiba. The data were collected in recorded interviews, from December 2011 to January 2012, and subjected to content analysis technique. Results: The identified categories were: Perception of nurses about communication with the terminal patient and strategies adopted by nurses for a good communication with the terminal patient. Such categories indicated that the professionals start to value the communication in clinical practice, using it as a strategy to assist the care to the terminally ill patient. Conclusion: this study is expected to subsidize new investigations, because they are still incipient to the research that addresses the communication on patient terminal care.

Objectives: Investigate moral harassment experienced by nurses in their workplace. Methods: Cross-sectional study performed with 259 nurses working in primary healthcare units and public hospitals. The tool employed in the research was composed of a questionnaire available in the union councils website, and the nurses were emailed the invitation to participate. Results: Results showed that the moral harassment phenomenon is more frequently regarded to the manipulation perpetrated by the aggressor toward opposed interests of the victim, followed by the acknowledgement that the harasser seeks to hinder the professional development of the harassed worker. Conclusion: The study revealed that the moral harassment experienced by the nurse in the workplace directly impacts his/her labor performance, as well as health and emotional statuses.

The discussion about the practice of psychological harassment has gained notoriety due to the intensification and the severity of the phenomenon in various scenarios, such as educational institutions, public agencies and private companies. This study aims to characterize the scientific production about the scenarios of psychological harassment in online journals in the areas of Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities from 2002 to 2010. This is an integrative literature review. Its sample consists of 24 publications. The survey revealed that most of the publications were made from 2005 to 2010. Highlighted areas of knowledge were Health Sciences and Humanities. We identified three scenarios of psychological harrassment: education institutions, public agencies and private companies. We conclude that psychological harrassment affects workers employed in various work scenarios, and that the discussion about this phenomenon stands in the interdisciplinary field.A discussao sobre a pratica do assedio moral vem ganhando notoriedade em decorrencia da intensificacao e da gravidade do fenomeno nos diversos cenarios, como instituicoes de ensino, orgaos publicos e empresas privadas. Objetiva-se, neste estudo, caracterizar a producao cientifica sobre os cenarios do assedio moral em periodicos online nas areas de Saude, Ciencias Sociais e Humanas, no periodo de 2002 a 2010. Trata-se de uma revisao integrativa da literatura, sendo a amostra composta por 24 publicacoes. A pesquisa revelou que o periodo de 2005 a 2010 correspondeu ao maior numero de publicacoes. As areas do conhecimento mais expressivas foram as Ciencias Humanas e a Saude. Foram identificados tres cenarios do assedio moral: instituicoes de ensino, orgaos publicos e empresas privadas. Observa-se que o assedio moral acomete os trabalhadores inseridos em diversos cenarios de trabalho, e que a discussao acerca desse fenomeno destaca-se no campo interdisciplinar.

Este estudio tuvo como objetivo identificar la comprension de los capellanes con relacion a la espiritualidad y analizar la contribucion de la capellania al cuidado de enfermos terminales. Esta es una investigacion exploratoria y cualitativa realizada con siete capellanes hospitalarios en 2 hospitales publicos en Joao Pessoa, Paraiba, Brasil. Los datos fueron recogidos por medio de entrevistas semiestructuradas y sometidos a analisis de contenido. Las categorias emergidas fueron: Espiritualidad bajo la vision de capellanes y Contribuciones de la capellania al emplear espiritualidad en el cuidado al enfermo terminal. Estas categorias mostraron que los capellanes valoran la dimension espiritual en su practica y ayudan al paciente a hacer frente al proceso de terminalidad. Se espera que esta investigacion proporcione recursos para nuevos abordajes, teniendo en cuenta que los estudios acerca de la capellania y la espiritualidad en la asistencia al enfermo terminal aun son incipientes.

Objective: To analyze scientific production about workplace bullying and harassment in dissertations and theses in Brazil, with emphasis on the year of publication; educational institution; area of knowledge; professional and academic background of the authors; keywords used; and concept map organization. Method: Bibliometric study with a quantitative approach with a sample consisting of 57 papers, 5 theses and 52 dissertations, published between 2002 and 2012. Results: It was found that 2012 was the year with the highest number of publications in this topic area. The region that stood out was the Southeast. The institution with the highest number of publications was the Federal University of Santa Catarina. There was a predominance of dissertations and most publications were produced by researchers focused on a multidisciplinary perspective.
