The present paper addresses the issue of Social Capital dimensions considering its application for collaborative network governance. The objective of the project is to understand how collaborative networks can be influenced considering the perspective of Social Capital. Initially, we present the most important Brazilian Wine Cluster, where the present work will be implemented. We defend the importance of linking Social Capital in collaborative networks as an integrator concept. In this sense, a theoretical model to analyze the linking of the Social Capital approach in collaborative networks is presented. In this model, we defend four elements of analysis: identity building, power relations, evaluation process and network performance.

Three elements of local development are highlighted by tourism activity: the society, the environment and the economy, that are integrated and reinforce themselves mutually, on the context that the social and cultural diversity and the productive differentiation must be used as potential transformational resources and of local development. The Vale dos Vinhedos (Brazil) region has become the most important wine and oenology park in the country, that beyond producing wines also manifests itself as a oenotouristic destine. This study is characterized as an exploratory-descriptive, of quali-quantitative character, and constitutes a preliminar and exploratory analysis made under the light of a territorial development concept. From this analysis new research questions have been formulated that aim to further the territorial development of Vale dos Vinhedos, attaching the concepts of territory and territorial resources to the tourism life cycle model. We are able to verify, from the life cycle analysis, that the Vale dos Vinhedos is on the “Development” stage, which indicates a tendency of diminishing participation of the local community on the planning and decision making of the touristic development process.

The present study aims at analyzing a territory according to collaborative network concepts. It highlights the degree of members’ commitment with a collaborative project. The research was conducted in a collaborative network in southern Brazil. The quantitative survey highlighted the three dimensions of commitment: continuance, affective and normative. Affective commitment was the most significant for the continuation of the collaborative network project. The research provides practical and academic contributions and demonstrates how collaborative processes can depend on a territory’s specific resources.

The ability to mobilize resources through collaborative action is understood as the social capital present in a territory. The presence of social capital can indicate how a collaborative network can be managed. Using a quantitative method, this article aims to analyze the social capital present in collaborative networks, by accessing the case of three collaborative networks in southern Brazil. The results show that social capital can be analyzed according to four factors: proximity, territorial anchorage, reciprocity and collective memory. The elements found can indicate barriers or motivators for the operation of collaborative networks.

This study examines the complementarities between the theoretical economics of transaction costs (TCE) and the resource-based view ( RBV), especially regarding ( i ) asset specificity and ( ii ) the lack of resources available in companies and how these are used to generate competitive advantage . We conducted a qualitative study of multiple cases in the confectioneries segment, mainly because this segment is recognized for its low occurrence of specific assets and for the scarcity of strategic resources. This facilitated the analysis in terms of data volume (goods and resources) and understanding the companies. It was found that even when operating in a segment of low asset specificity, confections are able to implement strategies to maintain the company. They feature strategic resources sets developed throughout the history of each organization, which are mobilized to produce specific assets for each.
