Implantação da reforma psiquiátrica no município de volta redonda: implicações para a enfermagem

The object of this was intervention in the Brazilian Assisted Living Home Casa de Saude Volta Redonda and their implications for psychiatric nursing. The historical sources are constituted of written and oral documents. The data was organized, categorized, and analyzed according to the historical method, with the support from habitus concepts and the field of Pierre Bourdieu, as well as literature on Brazilian psychiatric reform. The changes in Mental Health policies have required new practices and attitudes consonant with the psychiatric reform implementation process in that municipality, based on the pillar of inserting the psychiatric patient back into the community and reclaiming their citizenship. These measures were part of a broader partisan political project, with accumulated experience in other Brazilian municipalities. Nursing gained positions of power and visibility, able to ensure their participation in different decision-making arenas in the local field of psychiatric assistance. DESCRIPTORS: Nursing. Efeitos simbólicos capitalizados pelos enfermeiros do Instituto Nacional de Câncer no Brasil (1980 – 1990)

OBJECTIVE to describe the strategies of nurses in the National Institute of Cancer to disseminate its scientific capital and discuss the symbolic effects capitalized in the field of oncology in the 1980s. METHOD historical social studies, with primary sources consisting of written documents and oral reports, and as secondary sources, articles and books on the subject, based on the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieus concepts of scientific capital and habitus. RESULTS it revealed the effective performance of nurses in this Institute on policies of cancer prevention and control and strategies used in the teaching of oncology nursing at the undergraduate level. In conclusion, nursing stands out in this context, through the dissemination of its scientific knowledge, as a participant in the construction of a scientific field of oncology nursing in Brazil, highlighting the occupation of important social areas.

Efectos simbólicos capitalizados por los enfermeros del Instituto Nacional del Cáncer de Brasil (1980 - 1990)

Atualização do habitus profissional dos enfermeiros do instituto nacional de câncer (1980-1990)

Estudio historico y social, que objetivo caracterizar las areas de actuacion de los enfermeros de Instituto Nacional del Cancer, donde hubo la necesidad de incorporar nuevos conocimientos en oncologia y discutir las ganancias simbolicas para los enfermeros. Las fuentes primarias fueron documentos escritos y orales, analizados segun los conceptos de habitus y capital cientifico de Pierre Bourdieu. Se evidencio que en la que decada de 1980, la posicion de Instituto en el campo de la asistencia al cancer en Brasil, ha contribuido para que los enfermeros incorporasen nuevos conocimientos en las areas de cirugia oncologica, oncologia clinica y trasplante de Medula Osea. Las competencias y procedimientos de enfermeria fueron reorganizados y nuevas rutinas de atendimiento al paciente fueron estructuradas. Se concluye que las estrategias para la ocupacion de este espacio se desarrollaron a traves del compartimiento del conocimiento cientifico, con visibilidad de capital cientifico en el campo de la Oncologia yAsistencia altamente especializada, obteniendo reconocimiento nacional.

Update of the professional habitus from the nurses at the national cancer institute (1980-1990)

Nursing care of child: short retrospection

This study focuses on the overview of the childhood health policy, highlighted in the context of a hospital, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, aiming at describing the nursing assistance provided to children in hospitals in the first half of the century. It is a historical study, the primary written sources of which correspond to articles published in the Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem during the period under scrutiny. The secondary sources are made up of literature relevant to the topic. In the beginning of the 20th century, health care loses its social and philanthropic character to be subsidized by the government. Concerning childhood assistance, numerous hospitals opened in the 30s and 40s, even though the national healthcare policy was based on preventive actions.
