Pesquisa descritiva de abordagem qualitativa realizada em um hospital de ensino publico de Curitiba-PR, em outubro de 2009, com seis enfermeiros que atuam na area assistencial e gerencial. Teve como objetivo reconhecer os instrumentos gerenciais utilizados na pratica profissional de enfermeiros, como apoio para a tomada de decisao. Os dados foram coletados mediante a tecnica do grupo focal e utilizou-se analise de conteudo. Desta, emergiu a categoria empirica Instrumentos gerenciais de apoio a tomada de decisao, que permitiu a apreensao de seis subcategorias: planejamento, Procedimentos Operacionais Padrao, administracao do tempo, lideranca, autonomia, mediacao de conflitos e negociacao. Propoe-se que a instituicao e o Servico de Enfermagem disponibilizem aos enfermeiros atualizacao sobre os saberes gerenciais para o desenvolvimento de competencias, com vistas a uma atuacao mais efetiva e segura, assistencia mais qualificada e maior satisfacao profissional

OBJECTIVE to analyze the decision-making model adopted by nurses from the perspective of some decision-making process theories. METHOD qualitative approach, based on action research. Semi-structured questionnaires and seminars were conducted from April to June 2012 in order to understand the nature of decisions and the decision-making process of nine nurses in position of managers at a public hospital in Southern Brazil. Data were subjected to content analysis. RESULTS data were classified in two categories: the current situation of decision-making, which showed a lack of systematization; the construction and collective decision-making, which emphasizes the need to develop a decision-making model. CONCLUSION the decision-making model used by nurses is limited because it does not consider two important factors: the limits of human rationality, and the external and internal organizational environments that influence and determine right decisions.

This is a documentary-type descriptive research, using a qualitative approach and, which was carried out at the Hospital of the Federal University of Parana (HC-UFPR), in the city of Curitiba-PR. It aimed to comparatively analyze the description of two job positions that represent the nursing service, which were adopted in different managerial models. The content analysis of the documents related to the job positions in the respective management models showed significant differences. The results pointed out several changes in the description of the job positions, i.e. the term Nursing Direction was changed into Nursing Coordination, involving the suppression of autonomy and decision-making power over matters intrinsic to this profession. Knowledge and competence in the professional practice are required by the nurse practitioners in order to keep their representativeness in the organizational structure.

ABSTRACT Objective: to perform the translation and cultural adaptation of the document named Marco Regional de Competencias Esenciales en Salud Pública para los Recursos Humanos en Salud de la Región de las Américas (Regional Framework of Core Competencies in Public Health for Health Human Resources in the Region of Americas) from Spanish to Brazilian Portuguese. Method: a methodological study comprising the following phases: authorization for translation; initial translation; synthesis of translations and consensus; back-translation and formation of an expert committee. Result: in the translation of domain names, there was no difference in 66.7% (N = 4); in the translation of domain description and competencies there were divergences in 100% of them (N = 6, N = 56). A consensus of more than 80% was obtained in the translation and improvement in the expert committee by the change of words and expressions for approximation of meanings to the Brazilian context. Conclusion: the translated and adapted document has the potential of application in research, and use in the practice of collective/public health care in Brazil.
