Gestão do transporte orientada para os clientes: nível de serviço desejado e percebido

Transport management is traditionally addressed in the literature as a process with its flow contextualized in its operating performance and costs. In this paper, transport is considered as service management, seeking to understand the behavioral aspects of the demand of shippers. We conducted a survey of 400 small and medium-sized Brazilian industrial shippers. The differentiation of services, according to the customers, was obtained by Factor Analysis. The results indicated that the constructs of transport services most valued by shippers were, in order, Security, Reliability, Time, Price, Service for the special needs of customers and Customer Relations, i.e., the shippers showed greater interest in the effectiveness of service. Thus, shippers expect the performance of transport in itself to strengthen the relationship with their customers. Additionally, we detected differences in priorities, according to the groups targeted by the characteristics of customers. The importance attached to the constructs of Security and Reliability can also help understand why many companies maintain their own fleet or establish contracts for the transport of their products.

IMPACTOS DE POLÍTICAS DE SUPRIMENTO NO DESEMPENHO DE EMPRESAS DE MÉDIO PORTE DO SETOR MOVELEIRO SOB A ÓTICA DA NETWORK THEORY

Esse estudo analisou as estrategias de suprimento de duas empresas de medio porte do setor moveleiro, especialmente no que se refere a gestao do relacionamento com fornecedores. A pesquisa caracteriza-se por ser um estudo multi-casos de abordagem qualitativa-descritiva, sendo utilizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas submetidas a Analise de Conteudo (AC). O modelo teorico da analise foi apoiado na Network Theory a partir de seus pilares basicos (atores, atividades e recursos), para a analise das estrategias utilizadas pela funcao compras nas empresas, para: coordenar a execucao das atividades desempenhadas pelos fornecedores; combinar recursos internos com recursos externos; gerenciar projetos colaborativos entre a empresa e fornecedores; interagir co m a estrutura de fornecedores . O estudo identificou que as distintas estrategias de suprimento utilizadas pelas duas empresas produzem diferentes impactos em seus desempenhos: a primeira e afetada de maneira negativa, particularmente por preterir politicas de relacionamento em detrimento de uma manutencao de poder frente aos fornecedores. Ja a segunda empresa, e afetada de maneira positiva, obtendo ganhos significativos a partir de politicas de relacionamento colaborativo junto aos seus fornecedores.

A novel facility and equipment selection model for whey utilisation

We introduce a novel facility and equipment selection model for whey utilisation.The model selects the optimal combination of equipment, site locations and routes.The model suggests the investments that better release productive potential.Case study results show that important savings can be achieved by adequate investment.Differences in equipment availability and costs affect processing facility location. Whey is a by-product of cheese making that is a potentially important source of nutrients, but which currently goes to disposal in many parts of the world. In this paper, we analyse the efficiency of investment in whey-processing with the aim of releasing the productive potential of currently unexploited whey supply chains. We introduce a decision support model for production and distribution of products derived from whey that extends a globally inclusive facility location problem. The basic tenet of the model is that equipment selection during the initial stages of facility planning is critical, as capital costs in the early stages of supply chain design go into purchases of new machines and site conditioning. The model selects the optimal combination of whey processing equipment, facility locations and transportation routes subject to budget, equipment availability and final product requirements. The results from the model inform the members of a cluster of cheese makers on the infrastructure investments that better release the productive potential of the supply chain of their valuable by-product and, at the same time, avoid environmental damage. We use the model to find the optimal configuration of a whey supply chain for an actual cluster of small cheese makers in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and demonstrate that important savings can be achieved by investing early on in adequate processing facilities.

Alinhamento estratégico nas cadeias de suprimento da indústria automobilística brasileira

This study evaluates the degree of strategic alignment in the supply strategies adopted by the Brazilian automotive supply chains. The concept of alignment followed was that proposed by Vachon et al. (2009), that alignment is related to the intensity of the gaps between the requirements of a client and an emphasis on first-tier supplier in these same requirements when dealing with suppliers second tier. The unit of analysis are companies located in Brazil, first-tier suppliers to automobile manufacturers. The sample of twenty-eight companies were selected by criteria of accessibility, provided by SINDIPECAS. The units of observation were their supply managers. The results pointed that, the stronger the bonds between the automaker and its suppliers are, higher is the degree of alignment in the adopted supply strategies. Furthermore, European automakers supply chains have higher levels of strategic alignment compared to North-American automakers ones. However, the supply chains characterized by lower levels of strategic alignment are the ones where collaborative practices prevail in the relations.
