Versão abreviada da Escala Triangular do Amor: evidências de validade fatorial e consistência interna

Brief version of the Triangular Love Scale: evidences of factor validity and reliability. This study aimed at knowing the psychometric parameters of a shorted version of the Triangular Love Scale. Specifically, it tried to joint evidences of its factor validity and reliability in the Paraibano milieu. Participants were 307 undergraduate students from Joao Pessoa (PB), which have a stable heterosexual relationship. Their mean age was 23.4 years old (sd = 6.22; ranging from 17 to 56), most of them female (69.4%) and single (73%). They answered the Triangular Love Scale and demographic asks. Results support the psychometric adequacy of this measure, which showed three components (varimax rotation; accounting for 67.7% of the total variance), with satisfactory Cronbach’s Alpha: commitment (α = 0.88), passion (α = 0.87), and intimacy (α = 0.86). Women scored higher than men in commitment. These findings were discussed based on literature, confirming the adequacy of the scale. Future studies were suggested too.

Correlatos valorativos de atributos desejáveis de um/a parceiro/a ideal

Os objetivos deste estudo foram (a) conhecer em que medida e direcao os valores humanos se correlacionam com os atributos desejaveis de um/a parceiro/a ideal; (b) saber quais destes atributos seriam considerados mais importantes em um parceiro ideal; e (c) avaliar se a importância dada a tais atributos desejaveis variaria em razao do sexo dos participantes. Fizeram parte da pesquisa 421 pessoas da populacao geral de Joao Pessoa (PB), com idade media de 25,9 anos, a maioria do sexo feminino (56,8%), solteira (70,5%) e com curso superior (65,4%). Estes responderam a Escala de Atributos do Parceiro Ideal, o Questionario dos Valores Basicos e perguntas demograficas. Os resultados indicaram que um conjunto consistente de subfuncoes valorativas se correlacionou com os atributos desejaveis de um/a parceiro/a ideal (por exemplo, as subfuncoes experimentacao e normativa se correlacionaram com as dimensoes atletica e tradicional, respectivamente). Por outro lado, revelaram tambem o papel do sexo dos participantes na diferenciacao da importância dos atributos desejaveis; os homens valorizaram mais o atributo atletico e as mulheres o sociavel . Estes resultados foram discutidos tendo-se em conta pesquisas previas sobre a importância que homens e mulheres dao a atributos desejaveis de parceiros/as ideais.

Professores do ensino fundamental e bem-estar subjetivo: uma explicação baseada em valores

The objective of this study is to find out to what extent there is a relationship between the human values and the subjective well-being of primary-school teachers in the State of Paraiba. 313 teachers who answered the Basic Values Questionnaire, the Positive and Negative Affection Scale, the Vitality Scale, the General Health Questionnaire - QSG-12 (GHQ), the Life Satisfaction Scale together with some social-occupational questions took part in this research. Among the findings, the normative values stand out showing a direct correlation with the positive affections (r = 0,17, p < 0,01) and with life satisfaction (r = 0,12, p < 0,05) as well as a negative correlation with depression (r = -0,13, p < 0,05) and with the total score concerning well-being (r = -0,18, p < 0,01). The results may be better understood taking into account the socio-occupational context of these professionals.

Questionário de comportamentos anti-sociais e delitivos: evidências psicométricas de uma versão reduzida

This study aimed at knowing the psychometric parameters of the Antisocial and Delictive Behaviors Questionnaire (ADQ). Specifically, it tried to join evidences of its factor validity and reliability in the milieu of Paraiba-Brazil, as well as to know the adequacy of a briefed version of this measure. Two studies were accomplished. In Study 1, the participants were 480 students from high school, with a mean age of 16.2 years old (SD = 1.60), most of them were women (55.1%). In Study 2, 1,463 students of elementary school, high school, and university; with ages ranging from 10 to 36 years old (m = 16; SD = 4.41) participated in research, 59.9% were female. They answered the Antisocial and Delictive Behaviors Questionnaire and to demographic questions. Results supported the psychometric adequacy of this measure, which showed the theorized bi-factor structure. Moreover, the purpose of the ADQ briefed version revealed itself adequate, jointing evidences of factor validity and reliability similar to those of the original version. These findings were discussed based on literature and future researches are suggested as well.

Escala de Identificação com Grupos Alternativos: construção e comprovação da estrutura fatorial

Abstract This study aimed at building and validating a scale for measure the youngsters’ identification with alternativegroups. Participated 548 high-school students, most of them with a mean age of 16 years old (97.6%; M =16.2, SD =1.74). They answered a set of questionnaires, among they the Identification with Alternative Groups Scale , composedby seven alternative groups (hippies, punks, skinheads, headbangers, skaters, surfers, and funkeiros), rating in a 5-points scale. Result indicates a one-factor structure, with all items showing factor loadings above of .65. Thisgeneral factor showed an eigenvalue of 4.02, accounting to 56% to the total variance, and obtaining a reliability(Cronbach’s α) of .87. It was concluded that this an appropriateness measure to research purpose, being useful toknowing the youngsters’ identification with alternative groups (e.g., surfers, punks). Introducao A Identificacao Grupal pode ser entendida sinteti-camente como “a importância subjetiva do grupo parao individuo” (Kiesner, Cadinu, Poulin & Bucci, 2002,p. 197). Krech, Crutchfield e Ballachey (1975) definem aidentificacao como “o processo de procurar ser comooutro individuo ou grupo”, indicando que, pela identificacao,o individuo passa a incorporar as caracteristicas de outroindividuo ou grupo e a manifestar um comportamentosemelhante. Estes grupos sao chamados de grupos dereferencia, pois servem de modelo, sendo significativospara o individuo; ao nao fazer parte deles, o individuoque os considera como referencia expressa o desejo dese integrar, mostrando atitudes na mesma direcao dosgrupos (Kiesler & Kiesler, 1973).A identificacao grupal esta na base de variosprocessos e variaveis psicossociais. Teoria funcionalista dos valores humanos: evidências de sua adequação no contexto paraibano

Este estudio investigo la adecuacion de la teoria funcionalista de los valores humanos en el contexto del estado brasileno paraibano. Sus hipotesis de contenido y estructura de los valores han sido comprobadas. La primera predice la saturacion de tres items en cada una de las subfunciones teorizadas, mientras que la segunda predice una estructura duplex para los valores, teniendo en cuenta las dimensiones tipo de orientacion (materialista y idealista) y tipo de motivador (personal, central y social). Los participantes han sido 12.706 personas de la poblacion general de Paraiba, con un promedio de edad de 20.1 anos, en su mayoria mujeres (58,5%), solteras (38,3%) y con educacion secundaria (41,8%). A traves del analisis factorial confirmatorio, se comprobo la hipotesis de contenido, admitiendo que los 18 valores pueden ser representados en seis subfunciones valorativas (modelo original), comparandolo con modelos alternativos (uni, bi, tri y pentafactorial). Como era de esperar, el modelo original presento el mejor ajuste (AGFI = 0,94, CFI = 0,88 y RMSEA = 0,05), siendo superior a los alternativos. Posteriormente, se comprobo la hipotesis de estructura con escalamiento multidimensional (Proxscal), adoptando como indicador de ajuste del modelo el phi de Tucker (φ). Este indicador fue superior al recomendado (φ = 0,94), sugiriendo que los valores pueden ser representados en un espacio bidimensional 3 (tipo de orientacion: personal, central y social) x 2 (tipo de motivador: materialista e idealista). Incluso considerando las limitaciones, tales como el uso de la muestra no probabilistica, es decir, no ser representativa de la poblacion Paraibana, se concluye que los resultados apoyan la adecuacion de esta teoria en el contexto investigado.

Valores, metas de realização e desempenho acadêmico: proposta de modelo explicativo

The current study aimed to know to what extent values explain achievement goals and whether the latter predict good academic performance. Participants were 307 high school students from João Pessoa (PB), most of them women (61.2%) and from public schools (68%), with a mean age of 17.6 years old. They answered the Achievement Goals Questionnaire, the Basic Values Survey, Academic Performance Indicators and demographic questions. Based on linear regressions, an explanatory model was proposed in which value priorities predicted the goal achievements and these, in turn, predicted the academic performance. Results suggested the model presented satisfactory goodness of fit indices. Análise comparativa das falas materna e paterna dirigidas às crianças

O presente estudo tem como objetivo comparar as falas materna e paterna dirigidas as criancas. Esse trabalho tem como suporte teorico a perspectiva da Interacao Social dos estudiosos da linguagem. Participaram 12 criancas com idade entre 24 a 31 meses e seus respectivos genitores. Os dados foram obtidos atraves de sessoes de observacao, realizadas na residencia dos participantes e registradas em video-tape. A analise dos dados foi efetivada no programa computacional CHILDES e no SPSS. De modo geral, os resultados indicaram nao haver diferencas significativas entre as falas materna e paterna dirigidas as criancas, todavia observou-se que houve diferencas significativas quanto as subcategorias dos diretivos, requisicoes e feedbacks apresentados aos meninos e as meninas. Esses resultados foram discutidos considerando-se o nivel de desenvolvimento linguistico infantil, os contextos interativos em que ocorreram as interacoes e as implicacoes das falas materna e paterna para o processo de aquisicao da linguagem.

A Relação entre os estilos parentais e o engajamento escolar

The present study aimed to know the correlations between the dimensions (responsiveness and demand) of parenting styles and school engagement. Majority were females (55.6%) and from public school (77%). The participants answered the Parental Perception Questionnaire, School Engagement Scale and a sociodemographic questionaire. The results showed that the dimension responsiviness of maternal parenting styles correlated with the general factor of the School Engagement Scale (r = .25; p < .01) and the factors vigor (r = .24; p < .01), absorption (r = .21; p < .01) and dedication (r = .20; p < .01). Analyzing the results from MANOVA, were observed that the dimensions (responsiveness and demand) of the maternal parenting styles did not present any signifi cant statistic effect, contrary to what happened to the School Engagement Scale, where signifi cant differences were found in the education level [Wilk’s lambda = .81, F(20.979) = 3.10, p < .001, effect size = .05], indicating that participants from 2o year of high school had higher average in the factors dedication and absorption and the general factor. Concludes that there is need for a pedagogic work of orientation for the parents to inform the importance role of parental responsiveness in the dedication of the children in the school activities.

Hábitos de estudo e estilos parentais: estudo correlacional

In this study we aim at correlating the dimensions of parenting style (demandingness and responsiveness) with study habits. The research included 600 students aged between 11 and 20 years (mean = 14.3, SD = 2.32), belonging mostly (57.5%) to female students in public and private schools in the city of Joao Pessoa (PB). We analysed the data through PAWS (version 20) statistical program and calculated the correlation coefficient and MANOVA. The results show that the study habits correlated with maternal responsiveness dimension (r = 0.19, p <0.01) and paternal (r = 0.16, p <.01) and sociodemographic variables (sex, schooling and school) influenced the study habits and dimensions of parenting styles. We conclude that parents who demonstrate high responsiveness influence positively on the building habits of study, although there is a need for further studies.
