4.2: Integrated Scan Driver with Oxide TFTs Using Floating Gate Method

An on-glass integrated scan driver is proposed for oxide thin film transistors TFTs with negative threshold voltage. A coupling capacitor and a TFT for setting the initial voltage to the gate of a TFT were added to minimize the off-state current. Simulated and measured results indicate that the proposed scan driver shows no ripple and fast rise time/fall time of scan outputs. Circuit operation was verified with a 14-inch AMOLED panel.

A touch panel controller has been implemented with LTPS TFTs on a glass substrate. It induces voltage gradient across either plate of a 4-wire resistive touch panel and senses the intermediate potential at the touch position via the other plate. Then it converts the acquired analog voltage into digital signal and outputs 3-bit digital data for the horizontal and vertical positions respectively.

Simultaneous Emission with Active Voltage control (SEAV) is a strong candidate for crosstalk-free driving of 3D Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) displays. A gate driver for a SEAV 3D AMOLED panel needs two operating modes: the simultaneous switching mode and the progressive scanning mode. However, conventional gate drivers can operate in only progressive scanning mode. In this paper, a new integrated gate driver to support both of these modes is proposed and applied to a prototype 3D AMOLED display panel.
