This study aims to reflect on humanization in health care, recovering the history of understanding about mankind, the human and humanity, until humanization in humanity and health. We discuss the national humanization program in hospital care and reflect on this proposal and on the issue of humanization in Brazilian health care nowadays. Communication is indispensable to establish humanization, as well as technical and material conditions. Both users and health professionals need to be heard, building a network of dialogues to think and promote singular humanization actions. For this process to take effect, there is a need to involve the whole that makes up the health service. This group involves different professionals, such as managers, public policy makers, professional councils and education institutions. This study aims to reflect on humanization in health care, recovering the history of understanding about mankind, the human and humanity, until humanization in humanity and health.

This studys purpose was to identify the therapeutic journey of families seeking health care for their children with respiratory diseases. This qualitative study had the participation of parents of children younger than five years old who were hospitalized with respiratory diseases. Path mapping was used as an instrument to collect data, which was analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings indicate that families sought the health services as soon as they perceived symptoms and had access to medical care, however such care was not decisive in resolving their health issues. Even though the families returned to the service at least another three times, the children had to be hospitalized. The attributes of primary health care were not observed in the public health services, while therapeutic encounters had no practical success. This studys purpose was to identify the therapeutic journey of families seeking health care for their children with respiratory diseases. The purpose of this study was to better comprehend the nursing work process in the pediatric wing with care guided by the reference of integral care for the hospitalized child and his/her family. A qualitative study, the authors used the semi-structured interview and participant observation as methodological proceedings. The data was analyzed according to thematic analysis. This study identified that in spite of the changes that have occurred in the nursing work process, nursing actions in the pediatric unit continue to focus upon the childs illness as opposed to centering upon the child and his/her family. It is perceived that health care for the child and his/her family was compromised or rather they were not taken care of by the professional nurse, causing reason for reflection about knowledge-action in nursing which modifies the manner which the nurse develops over time his/her action in caring for hospitalized children and their families. DESCRIPTORS: Nursing. Work. Professional practice. Child hospitalized. Family.

The purpose of this article is to make a critical analysis about power relationships, which permeate daily professional and/or institutional actions in the hospital environment. This reflection is based on a concrete situation experienced by a group of nursing professors from a state university in Parana, which unleashed conflicts concerning interprofessional and interinstitutional power relationships. This study focuses on power relationships in the hospital emphasizing the interrelations that characterize nursing practice. We believe that these relationships can only be understood, reflected upon and rebuilt in the context of daily practice, as new ways of collective action are sought.
