Environmental Management, Sustainable Tourism and Organic Production: A Successful Combination in an Organization in South Brazil

O objetivo desse artigo e identificar praticas de gestao ambiental em uma organizacao que produz suco de uva orgânico, e busca agregar o turismo como diferencial competitivo e sustentavel. Para isso, o metodo utilizado para esse estudo foi o exploratorio descritivo com abordagem qualitativa, por meio de um estudo de caso, utilizando triangulacao de dados, conforme as especificidades de Yin (2010). Entre os principais resultados, observou-se que por ser uma empresa voltada para a producao orgânica, ela ja possui uma cultura focada na sustentabilidade e adota praticas de gestao ambiental. Entretanto com relacao a atividade turistica, apesar de ter um grande potencial de crescimento dentro da organizacao, a mesma precisa ser planejada corretamente, a fim de evitar possiveis impactos indesejaveis. Nesse sentido, acredita-se que atraves da gestao ambiental, e possivel realizar atividades voltadas ao turismo, como forma de disseminacao e agregacao de beneficios para todos os envolvidos. ABSTRACT The objective of this article is to identify environmental management practices in an organization that produces organic grape juice and seeks to aggregate tourism as a competitive and sustainable differential. For this the method used for this study was the descriptive exploratory with a qualitative approach through a case study using data triangulation according the specificities of Yin (2010). Among the main results it was observed that because it is a company focused on organic production it already has a culture focused on sustainability and adopts environmental management practices. However, despite the tourism has a great potential for growth inside the organization it must be planned correctly in order to avoid possible undesirable impacts. In this sense it is believed that through environmental management it is possible to carry out activities focused on touris as a way of disseminating and aggregating benefits for all involved. PRÁTICAS DE GESTÃO DO CONHECIMENTO EM EMPRESAS DO VALE DO RIO DOS SINOS/RS

The knowledge that is embedded in the organizational environment may be considered a great advantage and a source of significant innovation potential for organizations. The objective of this research is to identify how is happening the knowledge management in small industries located in the region of Vale do Rio dos Sinos / RS. For this, was carried out a survey study, with a total of 77 respondents, that were top managers. The organizations belong to metallurgical segments, components and footwear, mostly. As a result, it was found that the managers of the survey respondents companies do not pay enough attention to the knowledge of its employees for business success, considering the compannies little innovative. A significant number of respondents/managers said they highlight the importance of knowledge registering for their employees. Note, however, that the biggest concern and management efforts are in the storage of formal knowledge, that are found in standards, procedures and work instructions. With regard to personal, subjective knowledge, tacit knowledge, there is still a difficulty to find effective solutions for effective management.

Comprehensive analysis of innovation in R&D as a cultural practice

The main objective of this study is to analyze to what extent innovation has been disseminated as an organizational practice in three technological companies. Using a qualitative approach and narrative analysis, was investigated the construction of innovation practices adopted in the R&D area of organizations in the southern region of Brazil, which enables their reinterpretation as cultural practices. The analysis of the narratives provided by the interviewees revealed that innovation seems to become more effective from the moment when its practice is internalized by collaborators and is established as an organizational practice. In the three cases under study was possible to observe that the organizational practices for innovation are more strongly based on the culture of those companies that already have a history of innovation for their products and processes, and in which the role of the founder, as an innovating entrepreneur, is fundamental to maintain these practices, although he might not be seen as an organizational myth.

Influência da cultura organizacional sobre a decisão de internalizar ou externalizar as atividades de P&D

Os criterios normativos e objetivos que predominavam na literatura tecnica que tratava de areas organizacionais como producao e P&D mostraram-se insuficientes para abarcar os processos de interacao social inerentes nestas unidades organizacionais. Os textos mais recentes demonstraram que as variaveis subjetivas influenciam a forma de perceber o mundo e a organizacao, das pessoas presentes nestas areas, ate entao consideradas eminentemente tecnicas. Destarte, entende-se que as variaveis subjetivas, decorrentes de cultura organizacional idiossincratica, devem ser avaliadas na construcao de novos criterios de decisao. Uma das decisoes mais relevantes da area de P&D refere-se a definicao da forma de realizar as atividades (internamente, externamente ou de forma combinada), juntamente com os fatores mais objetivos como os custos de transacao, confianca, estrategia e gestao do conhecimento. Ao mesmo tempo percebe-se que a subjetividade presente no referido processo decisorio pode colocar em risco a objetividade que assegura o alinhamento dos criterios de decisao com os objetivos organizacionais. Com o objetivo de contribuir para o debate foi realizado o estudo de caso multiplo, por meio de abordagem qualitativa, entrevistas em profundidade e analise de narrativas, que facultou evidenciar a influencia das variaveis subjetivas sobre o referido processo decisorio. O autor entende que o tema apresenta grande relevância com base na centralidade da inovacao de produtos e servicos para as organizacoes contemporâneas.

O chocolate importado

International trade plays a special role in all countries due the influence exerted in the economic and social field. At the same time, subjects such as planning and implementing the operation of export and import becomes very important, with particular relevance among entrepreneurs and academics. When it comes to this issue, the aim of this teaching case is to provide discussions about the subjects of entrepreneurship, business planning and the learning of strategists. It describes the experience of company SK, started in July of 1997, which began its businesses through exporting and importing leather and its artifacts. Later, the enterprise redirected its focus and began importing chocolates for the Brazilian market. The entrepreneur found, during the process of the business construction, a series of challenges that obliged him to make decisions and make choices. Having an amount of capital and willingness to undertake, he had to decide which path to follow and how to decide. Were there right and wrong choices? How would he plan and operationalize a start-up business? How would he evaluate opportunities and estimate the risk of an enterprise? These are some of many questions that the reader will be challenged to answer after analyzing this case.
