The objective of the study was to evaluate the corn and wheat glutens and soybean meal in partial replacement to the bovine liver in granulated rations for rearing of piava post-larvae. In the first experiment meals were elaborated with wheat and corn glutens in substitution to the bovine liver in the levels of 25, 50 and 100%. The wheat gluten was more efficient as substitute of the bovine liver, and up to 40% of replacement showed the highest fish size and survival. In the second experiment, the replacement of the wheat gluten by soybean meal in growing levels of 25, 50, 75 and 100% of the 40% of inclusion of the wheat gluten obtained in the first experiment was evaluated. The substitution of the wheat gluten by soybean meal up to 75% provides the highest size for piava post-larvae, at the 21 days of age.

The piava (Leporinus obtusidens) is a important native fish in the South Brazil Rivers. In this study it was verified the growth of piava juveniles fed 60 days with three diets having different protein sources: yeast (L), meat and bone meal (FCO) and soybean meal (FS). Fishes were measured each 20 days to obtain the performance in weight, total and standard length, specific growth rate, condition factor and survival. At the end of trial the carcass yield, intestinal quotient and the digestive and hepato-somatic index were estimated. Higher growth was verified in fish fed with soybean meal (FS), where the weight and specific growth rate were higher (P<0.05). Digestive index values were smaller in fish fed with meat and bone meal diets (FCO). The carcass yield was higher than 90%, had no significative differences. We concluded that soybean meal as main diet protein source provide good growth for piava juveniles (L. obtusidens).

An experiment was conducted at the Colégio Politécnico da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) – RS, in order to evaluate the production of hydroponic fodder of wheat BRS Tarumã (Triticum aestivum L.) at the densities 2.0 kg m, associated with four densities of commom vetch, SS Ametista (Vicia sativa L.) and hairy vetch, SS Esmeralda (Vicia villosa Roth), at doses of 0, 150, 300 and 450 g m, during the winter of 2011. The experiment was conducted in a high tunnel with each treatment in an area of 1.0 m, using a nutrient solution described by Santos et al. (2004). Evaluations were performed at 16 days after sowing. The highest yield was obtained by wheat without vetches varieties.
