Objective To know the elements of work, health, and living conditions of women who pick recyclable waste and are members of a waste cooperative in a town of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Method This is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study with seven subjects. Data were collected through participative observation, semi structured interview, and a focus group from July to August of 2013. The data were subjected to content analysis. Results The following thematic categories emerged: Womens work, informality and precariousness; Experiences of job satisfaction; and Working conditions and health: experiences with accidents, illness and health services. Conclusion It was concluded that the women who collect recyclable material are exposed to precarious work conditions and potential health risks, such as work overload, accidents, illness, and social insecurity, and that nurses are responsible for promoting actions that ensure the health and inclusion of these workers.

Objective: To describe defensive strategies used by nursing workers in pediatric oncology towards suffering at work. Methodology: A qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study was carried out in 2013 with 20 nursing workers of pediatric oncology at a teaching hospital. The techniques of non-participant observation and focus group were used to produce the data, which were submitted to thematic analysis. Results: Some of the individual strategies identified were conformity, distancing from the experience with children, rationalization, and refuge in pleasurable moments. Furthermore, group strategies were pointed out, such as speaking and listening, coming together as a work group, redefining suffering, and the search for a new meaning in life. Conclusions: Spaces for speaking and listening can enable the sharing of experiences of suffering, helping workers to recognize defensive strategies and strengthen resistance actions.

Glacial cirques are typical landscape features of mid-latitude mountain environments like the Central Pyrenees. Their morphology as well as their spatial distribution provides insights about past glaciers and climates. In this study, we examine the distribution, morphometrical and topographical characteristics of glacial cirques in two U-shaped glacial valleys located in the Central Pyrenees–the Aran and the Boí valleys. They are located in different aspects of this mountain range (north vs south) under different climatic influences that promoted distinct glaciation patterns during the late Pleistocene. The spatial mapping of these landforms was carried out using high-resolution imagery and field observations. We analysed the data of the morphometrical and topographical variables of the glacial cirques by using different statistical and geospatial methods in order to unveil the factors controlling their formation and development. A total of 186 glacial cirques were mapped in the study area, including 119 in the Aran and 67 in the Boí valleys. The local topography and microclimate conditions lead to substantial differences in both areas in terms of the morphology and dimensions of the cirques. Glacial cirques in Boí are distributed at slightly higher elevations than in Aran and they are also larger, though their dimensions decrease with elevation in both valleys. Aran cirques are mostly oriented NE, while Boí landforms do not show any prevailing aspect. Even though lithology does not control the distribution of the glacial cirques, some specific lithological settings may favour the development of larger cirques. In general, glacial cirques in the Aran and the Boí valleys show morphometrical properties similar to those reported in other mid-latitude mountain ranges.

OBJECTIVE to identify situations of pleasure and suffering in the process of training multidisciplinary health resident. METHOD qualitative research, developed in the Multiprofessional Residence Program in Health at a university from the south of Brazil. Data was collected in 2013 through focus groups with nine residents, and analyzed according to a thematic analysis. RESULTS The situations of suffering were stimulated by negative situations undergone by the health workers such as difficulties in participating in other professional training activities, excessive number of activities the residents commit to as health workers, lack of knowledge and hindered integration in the areas of Residency. The situations of pleasure were a result of the multiprofessional activities developed and the residents larning possibility. CONCLUSION The situations of pleasure and suffering identified can help in the planning of institutional actions that contribute to a professional training process and the overall wellbeing of the residents.

The Research on a non-formal was developed by the therapeutic workshop reading ofPsychosocial Care Center 1 (CAPS 1) Sao Sepe / RS, aiming to get through debates and groupdynamics of the election of values about the environment and an awareness of the reality of ourplanet. In addressing the situation of the environment, we can see that through simple actionssuch as use of water in a conscious way, taking care of household waste separation and thecorrect destination of the waste, among others, can contribute to the balance between man andenvironment, respect and care for life in different ways.
