Jozef Zajac; Dušan Mitaľ; Svetlana Radchenko; Pavel Kokuľa; Ľubomir Olexa; Robert Čep

Purpose of this paper is to compare the characteristics of cutting of materials of different structures for testing intermittent cutting. Materials comparisons in the machining of steel strips samples C45 (12 050) are: cutting ceramics and cemented carbides. These materials have different characteristics of the cutting properties. Intensive development in the form of improved cutting properties passed in recent year’s just cutting ceramics. This is what resulted in its use not only for machining a continuous section, but its application was extended to the intermittent cutting machining.

Waldemar Matysiak; Dariusz Bartkowski; Michal Hatala; Jozef Zajac; Svetlana Radchenko; Robert Čep

In this paper the results of investigations carried out in the field of hole-flanging in thick steel sheets were presented. All experiments were performed in the Division of Metal Working of the Institute of Materials Technology at the Poznan University of Technology. An experiments of hole-flanging were carried out using cylindrical, spherical and conical punches. The blanks made of BW11, 34GHA and 15HGMV steels were investigated using different holes diameters. The holes were prepared using boring and laser techniques. The influence of the method of holes preparation on the quality and dimensions of obtained flanges were discussed.

Dušan Mitaľ; Peter Michalik; Ján Duplák; Svetlana Radchenko; Jozef Živčák; Božena Kaczmarska; Mohammed J.A. Alowa

Article is focused on using eddy current to measure of internal residual stress after milling. In presented article is described methodical process of identification residual stress in internal layers of the surface after machining of steel C45. Eddy current provides fast identification of residual stress directly in engineering areas without necessity to transfer samples in specialized laboratories. Presented article also describe procedure of evaluating measured values of deviation and its transformation to values of residual stress by conversion coefficients.

Influence of Welding Parameters to Quality of Welds from Structural Steel

Michal Hatala; Imrich Orlovský; Svetlana Radchenko

Welding is the most widely used technology of creating permanent joints in the engineering industry. Correct setting of welding parameters predisposes quality weld joint without unwanted defects. Article deals with the influence of fusion welding parameters on the final quality welds. Describes the thermal cycle of welding and its effects on the weld joint and theoretically describes used methods MIG / MAG. Core of the article is devoted to the description of the experiment and on the technological parameters of the welding process. Quality of weld is tested visually, metallographic and microhardness measurement of the weld joints.

Residual stress detection and evaluation has been of crucial importance, and also problematic for many years. There are many methods of residual stresses determination based on destructive and non-destructive way of approach. Nowadays there are still undiscovered possibilities to determine these internal stresses. Opportunity to detect residual stress on line directly, without using big and expensive devices is motivation for presented work. Presented article is focused on possibility to determine the residual stresses induced in conductive materials using eddy currents phasor angle. Using eddy currents method gives opportunity for quick on line measurement of residual stresses. Induced stress causes in base material slight deviation in permeability and conductivity, which can be detected using standard eddy currents flaw detector. Experimental procedure included annealing for stress relief, manufacturing by face milling and measurement of residual stresses using x-ray diffraction and eddy currents. Results of experimental research lead to extension of knowledge in the field of residual stresses. Presented method is applicable for assessment of residual stresses in many components.

Jozef Zajac; Svetlana Radchenko; Zuzana Mitalova; Pavol Beraxa; Ján Duplák; Peter Cizmar

Presented article is focused simulation and visualization of the turning process of hard metal material. The main purpose is to describe the phenomena occurring during the process of chip machining in various cutting conditions. In this work, simulation software is used to analyze an actual process of the simulation and its concomitant circumstances. The use of modeling and simulation software is cost and time efficient. The article is divided into two main parts. The first part focuses on characterization and description of the turning process. The second part concentrates on explanation and simulation of the chip machining process of hard metal material by means of FEM analysis software.
