Percepções de puérperas quanto aos fatores que influenciam o aleitamento materno

The following paper presents the results of an exploratory-descriptive research, applying a qualitative approach. The main goal was to understand the perceptions of women in puerperium concerning the factors that influence breast feeding. The study has been carried out in a university hospital. Ten women in immediate puerperium participated. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The analytical procedure adopted was content analysis. The results pointed out categories related to biological and cultural factors. The research has reinforced the importance of knowing the main aspects that interfere with breast feeding and, thus, enabling health professionals applying new strategies in the construction of actions of health education, valuing the many dimensions that compose this experience.O presente trabalho apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa do tipo exploratorio-descritiva, com abordagem qualitativa, cujo objetivo consistiu em conhecer as percepcoes de puerperas acerca dos fatores que influenciam o aleitamento materno. O estudo foi realizado em um hospital universitario. Participaram dez mulheres em puerperio imediato. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas semi-estruturadas, sendo a analise de conteudo o procedimento analitico adotado. Os resultados apontaram categorias relacionadas aos fatores biologicos e aos fatores culturais. A pesquisa reforcou a importância de conhecermos os principais aspectos que interferem na pratica do aleitamento materno e, assim, possibilitar aos profissionais da saude novas estrategias na construcao de acoes de educacao em saude, valorizando as diversas dimensoes que compoem essa vivencia.

Representações culturais de saúde, doença e vulnerabilidade sob a ótica de mulheres adolescentes

Abstract Resumen El presente articulo presenta un recorte de investigaciondescriptiva, del tipo exploratorio con abordaje cualitativo. Elobjetivo consistio en conocer de que forma la cultura influenciaen el comportamiento de adolescentes, contribuyendo a suvulnerabilidad. El estudio trata de la vision de mujeresadolescentes que integran un proyecto de ensenanza yextension en desarrollo en las escuelas de ensenanzafundamental de la Region Sanitaria Norte de Santa Maria, interiordel Rio Grande del Sur. Para la obtencion de las informacionesse utilizo como instrumento una entrevista semiestructuradacon preguntas que orientan el objetivo de la investigacion.Los resultados destacaron la importancia de la estructuracionde procesos educativos con adolescentes con el objeto deformar habilidades para la vida, lo que permite resistir a laspresiones para adoptar comportamientos de riesgo quepuedan afectar su salud y su desarrollo.Palabras clave: Salud de la mujer. Caracterização de crianças em tratamento cirúrgico em um hospital escola no sul do Brasil

This is a quantitative, descriptive and retrospective study that aimed to characterize children undergoing surgery in a teaching hospital in southernBrazil. Using the documentary analysis the medical records of children who were hospitalized at University Hospital of Santa Maria (HUSM) in the period January to December 2006 were analyzed, totaling 107 charts. Data were submitted to simple statistical analysis. It was found that the majority of children hospitalized in the period was male, in school age and from the central region ofRio Grandedo Sul. The most common diagnosis was acute appendicitis. The average hospital stay was about five days. 88% of children had their mother as primary caregiver. The meaning of sexuality in nurse education

ABSTRACT Objectives: to reflect on sexuality in a cultural perspective. In a group reflexive exercise, the concepts of this theme have been discussed in groups of undergraduate students of the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria in the years 2003 and 2004. Methodology: this is a research with a qualitative approach whose data collection was based on presuppositions of the focus group. Population included 80 nursing undergraduate students of a university in south Brazil, at ages between 18 and 25 years old, male and female, at the third year. A theme analysis of the data was applied. The study has been approved by the Ethics Committee of the Health Sciences Center of the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (113/03). Results: the meanings revealed expressed varied senses about sexuality which was highlighted as an element of mediation for the interpersonal relationships and as a human expression of a sexed body. Conclusion: The study enabled the inborn human visibility, universal and singular, however rarely discussed in the formation of nurses. It was possible to visualize sexuality in the perspective of cultural, social, and historic construction; sensitizing participants for the singularities that this topic approaches to each person. Em um exercicio reflexivo grupal discutiu-se as concepcoes desta tematica junto a grupos de alunos do Curso de Enfermagem da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, nos anos de 2003 e 2004 . Metodologia : pesquisa com abordagem qualitativa cuja coleta de dados baseou-se em pressupostos do grupo focal. A populacao compreendeu 80 academicos do curso de Enfermagem de uma universidade da regiao sul do Brasil, com idade entre 18 e 25 anos, de ambos os sexos e que cursavam o sexto semestre. Aplicou-se a analise tematica para analisar os dados. Este e studo foi aprovado pelo Comite de Etica do Centro de Ciencias da Saude, da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (numero de protocolo 113/03). Resultados : os significados revelados expressaram sentidos variados acerca da sexualidade e a destacaram como um elemento de mediacao para os relacionamentos interpessoais e como expressao humana de um corpo sexuado. Conclusao: o estudo permitiu a visibilidade de uma dimensao humana inata, universal e singular, porem raramente discutida na formacao de enfermeiros ; oportunizou ver a sexualidade na perspectiva de construcao cultural, social e historica, e sensibilizou os participantes para a singularidade que esse tema circunscreve a cada pessoa. El estudio fue aprobado por el Comite de Etica del Centro de Ciencias de la Salud, de la Universidad Federal de Santa Maria (numero de registro 113/03). Resultados: los significados revelados expresaron sentidos variados acerca de la sexualidad y la senalaron como un elemento de mediacion para los relacionamientos interpersonales y como expresion humana de un cuerpo sexuado. Conclusion: el estudio permitio la visibilidad de una dimension humana innata, universal y singular, pero raramente discutida en la formacion de enfermeros; ha dado la oportunidad de ver la sexualidad en la perspectiva de construccion cultural, social e historica, y ha sensibilizado a los participantes para la singularidad que este tema representa para cada persona. A vivência da gravidez na adolescência no âmbito familiar e social

Aim: to analyze the experience of teenage pregnancy in the context of a family and social. Method: a descriptive study, developed o a primary care health unity. Criteria inclusion were pregnant adolescents between 10 and 19 years. Eight pregnant women participated. Research project was approved by the Committee of Ethics in Research under the number 00554512.0.0000.5346. Data collection will be performed through a narrative interview, between March and June 2012, and analyzed by using the content analysis technique with thematic. Results: both families and partners of the teenagers, are supporters of the pregnancy, even though, the first pregnancy discover caused doubt and anxiety to teenagers. Final Considerations: the study provides a contribution to the knowledge on teenage pregnancy, family participation and its importance in this phenomenon for source of support.
